Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture,

much higher than what we could have imagined.
But just knowing this height changes
the actions we can take.
Yes. We can prepare now.
By remembering the stories of those who lived through it,
we can expand our imagination and gain valuable insight.
We will not forget that day.

The likely answer: He was in Austin TX. They have a very bad homeless problem and crime is thru the roof there. He probably got held up for his car, money, a watch or phone and it didn't end well. Could have been some junkie trying to get his fix or someone who is a career criminal. Or wrong place wrong time type of thing.
The unlikely answer, but could be valid: he was researching/investigating something he shouldn't have been. Got clipped cause he found out something damning.
The very unlikely answer: Alex had him killed. I wouldn't even know where to begin where that could be true. But it's a crazy world we live in.
