I lived in the Daytona Beach area for over 12 years. There are multiple flight schools plus Embry Riddle Aeronautical University as well as a nearby residential subdivision, the Spruce Creek Fly-In, where old pilots go to retire and still have their planes nearby with an airstrip and hangar. So, you have student pilots and octogenarian aviators all in air around Daytona and sometimes they even collide with each other over the beach and sometimes they make emergency landings on the interstate. Never a dull moment in the Sunshine State.

ocean: do not triffile with the ocean. When I was about 9, we were on vacation at a New England beach. There had been a storm ( you can tell already where this is going) and I got up super early to see what might be on the beach. I headed off by myself, got to the shore and was surprised to see next to nothing.
Thinking there might be some things of interest floating in, I stepped into the water about knee deep. I swear as heaven is my judge I felt as if two hands gabbed my ankles and in a second I was well out beneath the waves. I was dragged along the bottom at a brisk pace, while I tried again and again unsuccessfully to get above the water.
Finally, I gave up. Said, "OK, God's Will, I consign my soul to heaven" (I have a fondness for the dramatic) and stopped fighting. And again, I swear to heaven this is true, I heard a voice inside my head saay, "You're no fun." And I was released to head home determined to never ever think of the sea as uninhabited ever again.
monster stars: if they can get back to that early point, can they make it back to the point of origin of thoses gases? Will they find them emanating from a wand, a robed hand??
