This is the Eye of God, also known as the Helix Nebula, or more officially NGC 7293. This nebula is actually a look glimpse at our own future. How you might wonder? This is a planetary nebula, and what happens to most stars when they die if they don't go supernova! It is much less violent, and more so a gentle shedding of gas rather than a big ka-boom. This is what our very own sun will under go, until it remains as a white dwarf for years to come.

After taking an apparent break for eight and a half days, the main crater of Fagradalsfjall volcano, Southwest Iceland, once again began spewing fire into the air on Saturday. The team points out that there is every indication the eruption did not stop during this pause in surface activity. Clearly, the opening of the main vent clogged up, preventing magma from flowing into it.
