A severe G4-class geomagnetic storm that sparked auroras over Europe, China, and most of the United States on April 23-24 is subsiding. The storm was caused by a CME hitting Earth's magnetic field. Minor (G1) to moderate (G2) geomagnetic storm remain possible on March 24-25 as Earth exits the CME's wake.
Northern lights spilled out of the Arctic Circle to unusually low latitudes. This picture shows red auroras outside San Diego only ~10 miles from the Mexican border:

Auroras over Sturgis, South Dakota, were so big and intense, they surrounded onlookers in all directions… Amazing…

The volcanic update… In the last week, the Taal volcano has begun to produce several kilometer high sustained gas plumes which when combined with new inflation and an increase in sulfur dioxide emissions suggests that an eruption might occur in the short to mid term future. Elsewhere, the Piton de la Fournaise volcano on the island of Reunion produced a seismic crisis, suggesting that it too could erupt in the next 2 weeks. And, in Costa Rica, the Rincon de la Vieja volcano produced a new volcanic eruption. This video will discuss these stories & list the 43 volcanoes which are actively erupting across the planet….
