An ancient slab of Earth's crust buried deep beneath the Midwest is sucking huge swatches of present-day's North American crust down into the mantle, researchers say.
The slab's pull has created giant "drips" that hang from the underside of the continent down to about 400 miles (640 kilometers) deep inside the mantle.
These drips are located beneath an area spanning from Michigan to Nebraska and Alabama, but their presence appears to be impacting the entire continent.

My devices went all weird on me the other night. My atomic clock changed the date, time zone, and switched back to standard time, my Fire tablet was asking if I wanted to do a factory reset (NO!), and my Apple watch set a timer all by itself that went off in the early morning hours.

All concerning stuff, but don't worry about Trump's tariffs. There's an end game in mind and the markets will rebound quickly. Lots and lots of jobs coming home. Just can't figure out why the news media never uttered a peep about Biden's tariffs. Fact is, he kept the tariffs from Trump's first term and added more. But it's all good when the Democrats do it.
Not really fair to say that the government cares more about the life of the United Health Care CEO than the lives of those murdered in the racially motivated Texas Walmart attack unless those crimes occurred in the same state and are being tried by the same prosecutors. Just because a deal is made doesn't mean the authorities don't care about the victims or that they don't want justice served.
So why the plea deal?
