The science of brain death as it happens. Very fascinating. I doubt very much that what they are looking for can be found with science. How can science find “some thing” “bigger,” more vast than itself….? I think in a story it’s described as the pot being able to understand the potter.
What is meant by the word “consciousness” is more than the human physical consciousness of being awake, and not in a sleeping, restorative state. With all due respect to the philosophers that chose that word to “describe” all that is - it’s a lousy descriptor/word, and causes much confusion.

My local climate can swing over 100 degrees F in 12 hours in the fall. Yet no one drops dead from instant climate change. And somehow, local farmers manage harvest 4 crops of alfalfa in the summer.
I wonder if any Eskimos have ever visited Death Valley, and if so, did they survive? Probably not. They look a lot like native Hawaiians.
New York might have fun with the Hispanics and the Mayan belief of soul stealing photos. Quite few areas in Mexico still do not allow photos of infants. It is still believed the souls of infants are fragile and are susceptible to leaving the body. ...
